My training

Whilst acknowledging the martial aspect of the art, my approach is essentially non combative, focusing on health, fitness and relaxation.

I have followed two main lines of study in Tai ChiChuan - the Yang style following Cheng Man-Ch'ing’s adjustments under Dr Chi Chiang Tao and the Chen style under Chen Xiao Wang.
I studied my Hsing I Chuan with Lin Chiang Li.

Dr Chi Chiang Tao was a senior student of Cheng Man-Ch'ing and studied with him in Taiwan for 20yrs. He had studied under a Yang family member in China for 10 years before he moved to Taiwan.

Chen Xiao Wang is titular head of Chen family and 19th generation Chen family successor.

Lin Chiang Li a disciple of Wang ShiJin.

I started my training in T’ai-Chi Ch’uan in 1978 with the ‘British Tai Chi Chuan Association’. I have also made significant studies with; William C C Chen, Wen Lin Jun, Dr Shen Hong Xun, Zhu Xing Wang. I have made brief studies with several other instructors, many of note, and I have visited a good many schools from China to USA.

My T'ai Chi Ch'uan studies have encompassed open hand form, partner work and straight sword. I am proficient in ‘Cheng Man-Ch'ing’ Yang style and Chen style and have also practiced Wu Hao style. My studies and teaching of T’ai-Chi Ch’uan have taken me across China, Canada, USA, Europe, and Most of Britain.

My study of Hsing I has taken place in Taiwan in the traditional manner at the house of my master.

Along side T’ai-Chi Ch’uan I have studied Chi Kung practices such as White Crane chi kung, Ba Duan Jin (8 Brocades), Yin Yang chi kung, Swimming Dragon chi kung, Tan Huang Gong, Zhan Zhuang.
